Wiler
Wiler, the village that is the gateway to the Lauchernalp, with the Lotschental Tourism office located right near the bottom of the Gondola, you’ll soon discover even more to what the valley has to offer. Your e-car rental is right there too, incase you need it for a day trip adventure. Wiler itself has a handful of great restaurants like Sporting, Lonza and don’t forget to stop by the Tschäggättä pub for a taste of culture and history. Top up on your groceries at Volg, the valley’s only supermarket.

Kippel
Kippel, Wiler’s next door neighbour, is rich in history, culture and beauty. Take a stroll down the quaint streets, lined with well groomed traditional homes decorated with geranium flowers. The village offers camping, the Lötschental Museum, a variety of Restaurants, and of course the alp above, Hockenalp.

The first chapel was already at the present location when the parish was founded in 1233, the current church was built in the Baroque style between 1740 and 1942

Blatten
A must see while staying at Lauchernalp, Blatten, the largest area in the valley, boasts with superb restaurants (home to Michelin guide feature Nest und Bietschorn, great hikes, age old traditions and of course the poweful Lonza river running directly through it. Blatten is easly accessible by car, bus or bike. The village looks directly at the Bietschorn Glacier with Telialp situted up above it.

Carnval week sees the Tschäggätta come out to the streets of Lötschental. You’ll find these statues and figures around the valley as part of their culture and tradition

An incredible tradition and sight to witness, the Grenadiers of God can be seen taking part in the processions on the Feast of Corpus Christi, These “red soldiers” are a legacy from ancient soldiering days.
Fafleralp
Down the far end of the valley lies the area of Fafleralp, part of the Blatten Municipality and famous for Charlie Chaplin who was a regular guest at Hotel Fafleralp. In his words, “There’s nothing more beautiful than the Fafleralp,” he once wrote in the hotel’s guest book. This is undeniably true, as we’ve witnessed for ourselves. The popular hike to the Anenhütte will take you deep into the beauty and immerse you to feel one with nature.
